We submitted 43 mosquito samples to the LSU Disease Diagnostic Lab last week for testing; 8 samples tested positive for West Nile Virus. The positive samples are from trap locations in the southern, central, and northern portions of WBR Parish.
We will conduct spray truck operations parish-wide this week, with an extra focus on areas with positive samples. Spray truck operations will begin tonight and roll through Thursday night (weather permitting). Daytime larviciding of roadside ditches and subdivision drains will continue this week also.
The weather is still plenty warm, mosquitoes are still very active, and West Nile Virus is still making its presence known. Please continue to take proper precautions to protect yourself and your family from being bitten by mosquitoes.
