Animal Control

West Baton Rouge Parish Shelter and Animal ControlWest Baton Rouge Parish Shelter and Animal Control is a department of West Baton Rouge Parish Council. As an Animal Control department, we are tasked with enforcing all parish and municipal ordinances concerning animals within West Baton Rouge Parish. As a shelter, we are tasked with doing everything we can to find positive outcomes for the neglected, unclaimed, and abandoned animals in our care. We do this through community outreach, social media outreach, and networking with rescues and adopters across the country.

It is our sincere hope to build a trustworthy relationship with the members of our community. We strive to educate as many community members as possible on basic pet care and the importance of spay/neuter, in addition to the ordinances of this parish.

We aim to provide comfort and basic medical care for the animals in our possession to the best of our ability. We ensure each animal that is adopted out through our shelter is either spayed or neutered, up to date on basic vaccinations, and has a microchip.

Volunteers

We often need the help of volunteers to accomplish the tasks described above. We greatly value and appreciate those that volunteer their time and efforts to help us achieve our shared goals. If you would like to come and volunteer at our shelter please contact our main office at 225-336-2428. You will need to fill out a volunteer waiver at our office, or you can print it out here and bring it with you. If you are under 18, you will need to bring a legal guardian with you to sign the under 18 waiver.
